FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO ARE WE?

All produce will be planted, grown, and harvested in Homewood by Oasis Farm & Fishery or the Jr. Green Corps Garden. Oasis Farm & Fishery uses traditional in-ground farming and aquaponics to grow the products right here in Homewood. Located on Frankstown Avenue in the heart of Homewood, the Junior Green Corps Garden is an educational farm managed by Operation Better Block’s Junior Green Corps, a job readiness program for youth ages 14 to 18. Both Oasis Farm & Fishery and the Jr. Green Corps Garden utilizes organic growing practices to steward and safeguard our natural resources, and strive to maintain the highest level of Food Safety by utilizing Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

DO YOU SOURCE PRODUCE FROM OTHER FARMS?

All the produce in our veggie subscription program is grown on our farm. The only exception is if we have a major crop loss due to weather, pests, or disease. If this happens, only organic produce will replace what’s lost. Any purchased vegetables and their sources will be clearly indicated at the weekly pick-up.

WHAT IF THERE IS A WEEK WHEN I CAN’T MAKE THE PICK UP?

We understand. If you can’t pick up one week, we encourage you to send a friend to pick up for you! Otherwise, please let us know in advance. We will pack your produce and store it for you. You can pick up your bag on Fridays from 11am to 4pm. However, we encourage everyone to pick up on Fridays, since we do not have the capacity to pack and store a large volume of produce bags.

COVID-19 update

We will continue to offer the option for members to pick up their pre-packed weekly share from our walk-in cooler, in case they cannot make the regular Thursday pick-up time.
